Ferroresonant Phenomena in Medium Voltage Grids with Voltage Transformers

s. 42-49 DOI: DOI: 10.17274/AEZ.2018.31.04

Abstract

The phenomenon of ferroresonance in the power grid has been known and described for many years. However, it is difficult to clearly determine this phenomenon due to its considerable sensitivity to even small changes in the network parameters. An electrical network with the same set of elements may result in more than one steady state of ferroresonance. Ferroresonance may occur in networks with isolated neutral point involving inductive voltage transformers and cause the transformers damage. The article presents the phenomenon of ferroresonance, conditions of its arising and fundamentals of its prevention or suppression.
