Energy metering system protection. requirements for surge protection of energy counters powered by voltage transformers
Abstract
Failure-free operation of electronic devices requires effective surge protection designed on the basis of surge threat estimation. Present surge value must be compared with acceptable levels of the impulse withstand resistance of these devices and appropriate surge protective devices must be selected. This paper presents the requirements that must be met by the devices which reduce surge affecting electricity metering systems.
