Electric vehicle from a perspective of electric energy distributor - important load or an illusion?

s. 72-79 DOI:

Abstract

Replacing of gasoline engine driven cars with electric vehicles enables, according to numerous opinions, to reduce the demand for carbon-rich fossils and to limit harmful gases emitted at their burning. A substantial effort of car manufacturers has been observed in the last years aimed at the development of electric vehicles that might satisfy their users. It means that such vehicles could appear in residential neighbourhoods where their batteries would be charged from the residential distribution grid. Grid operators could ask questions, therefore, on how this charging would affect the grid performance; how they should be prepared for that and when this could happen.

Keywords

energy efficiency, market penetration, car battery charging.
